I put four numbers on a wall-friendly page: inbound not put away, exception queue age, counts remaining today, and last job success time. Big type. Auto-refresh. No filters for the first version.
People walking past should understand it. If they need a legend, it is not a floor dashboard.
Source it from the event table
If the dashboard can drift from the tools, it becomes decoration. One database, the same queries the apps use.
Resist the 20th chart
Leads will ask for pie charts. I ask which decision they will make this afternoon with that pie. If they cannot answer, it waits.
